A brief word on my upgraded tech toolbag
I’m very pleased with a few changes I’ve made in my websurfing/blogging toolkit. Thought others might be interested.
First, as I’ve noted before, I’m using Bloglines both to maintain my extensive RSS blogroll at right and to serve as my personal newsreader or news aggregator. I find it very convenient, especially since it’s web-based and thus accessible from any computer.
Second, I’ve switched from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox, a free browser that I highly recommend. I find it much faster, really am hooked on the tabbed browsing, which allows me to switch back and forth between my blawg, the Blogger editing page, Bloglines, and various pages of interest, all without having to use the “back” button or open multiple copies of the software (which is a huge resource hog when done with IE). And my spyware/adware problem, which was quite serious and seemingly interfered with IE browsing, is now virtually gone. Did I mention you can import all your IE bookmarks?
Finally, I’m very excited about spurl.net. This free site allows for maintenance and use of a single uniform set of personal bookmarks, available from any computer. More importantly for me, it has a very nice knowledge management function, allowing me to categorize and search all my page clips that I may or may not add to the blawg. See a page you might want to read again (or later)? Spurl it!
