Nothing like a classic — the good old reference check. I think this is one of the orphan children of the HR world, don’t you? One of the most interesting stories I ever heard about reference checking was about an interviewer who called a reference using a speaker phone, while the candidate was in the room! In the remainder of this posting, I present some interesting sources of information, including a
quiz (don’t you love quizzes???), a website where employees can go and for a small fee, try to learn more about what past supervisors are saying to them (or, try this website as an alternative), a nicely written article by a law firm, and a very thorough guide by another law firm.
