The New Overtime Pay Regs: What Are Employees Asking?
Yesterday, I made a posting about the questions EMPLOYERS are asking in regards to the new (improved?) overtime regs. Today, we look at questions that EMPLOYEES are asking. The answers are provided from a union perspective.
Again, test your knowledge by trying to figure the answers provided.
Here are some of the questions:
1. I work 40 hours a week. Can I “volunteer” to work on a Saturday and Sunday, or should I get paid overtime even though it is not a regular work day?
2. How does the new overtime rule work for on-site hotel/motel managers?
3. I and many of my fellow pharmacists are paid by the hour. Many of us make over $100,000 per year. Will we be exempt? (have you thought of becoming a pharmacist???)
4. I am currently a cook in a restaurant. I make $12 dollars an hour and roughly work 35 hours a week . I do work overtime 6-10 times a year. Will I be affected?
