I discovered this morning that we were named runner-up in the category of “Best Practice-Specific Legal Blog” in“Dennis Kennedy’s 2004 Legal Blogging Awards” on the DennisKennedy.com blog.
This is quite an honor — and a surprise. There are now very many practice-specific legal blogs. Dennis is a widely-known law-and-technology “guru” and reviewer. He happens to be from St. Louis, and perhaps exhibits a slight bias for St. Louis blawgs, but then again maybe we’re just better.
Dennis’s criteria:
In general, I like to see blogs (1) consistently useful content, (2) a generous and helpful approach, and (3) a combination of commitment and talent. In other words, I like blogs that compel me to read them on a regular basis.”
His comments on our blawg:
George Lenard has developed a great plain-spoken style and filled the George’s Employment Blawg with lots of useful information designed to help readers deal with real-world issues. It’s another model that bloggers in other practice areas should study carefully.
Here I will only add two comments of my own.
First, Michael Harris deserves much of the credit as well; he and I have managed to keep this going with a “tag-team” approach — when I’m swamped he pitches in and vice versa.
Second, thanks to Dennis not only for the regular reading of this blawg he apparently does, but more importantly for all his work promoting and encouraging lawyers to blog and all the other great work he does pushing the envelope on application of technology to the practice of law.
