Trump says "You’re Fired"; USA Today says "not so fast"
Thanks to Stephen Harris of the Job Stuff blog for the tip to this great article.
Substance-wise, it’s nothing new; but it has enough entertainment value to merit a quick read, especially if you watch The Apprentice and/or fire people.
There are also links to Trump’s personal views on terminations in real life and to a blog on the Apprentice, for afficionados.
USA Today reports: “Trump makes firing people look easier than reality” (by Del Jones)
Trump’s terminations are clean, but in real life he would give his lawyers ulcers. They would tell him to take a deep breath and 90 days to build a case . . . Above all, he would be told to document, document, document to convince a jury . . .
Trump would be advised to build a case and be prepared to arrive in court with a fat folder pointing out deficiencies and the lengths he went to give warnings and second chances. He might leverage the animosity among contestants on The Apprentice and have them fill out detailed evaluations on each other. Dirt coming from co-workers carries more weight than dirt coming from management.
Trump would likely rehearse a script vetted by lawyers.
