Creating A Blogging Policy: Suggestions For Companies

In an interesting article from a great website, lawmemo.com, the authors describe some key issues regarding a company blogging policy. One particularly nice feature of the article is that it explains why an organization should have a blogging policy, including it is more fair to employees; it helps protects company assets, and for other good reasons.

What are some items that should appear in the blogging policy? According to the authors,

*the policy should explain the company rules regarding blogging during work hours;

*the policy should explain how the company defines “blogging” as well as some of the key features of a blog;

*the policy should explain the kinds of blogging conduct that may result in disciplinary action, such as disclosing trade secrets, posting unauthorized copyright material, and so forth.
