"Love Litigating Lawyers Day"

(T-shirt reads in full: “Lawyers Do It In Front Of A Jury Of Their Peers.”)

I just got an e-mail from the one and only David Giacalone, whose interest in Haiku poetry has prevailed over his interest in legal ethics, as his blog is now named “f/k/a . . . . one-breath poetry & breathless punditry with haikuEsq formerly known as ethicalEsq”

David has posted a celebration of litigating lawyers (actually full of great quotes and one-line lawyer quips that are overwhelmingly anti-litigation). An example:

As a litigant, I should dread a lawsuit beyond almost anything else short of sickness and death.
— Judge Learned Hand

(I learned in law school that Learned Hand, despite the queer name, was one of the all-time greats of American law.)

There’s much more. Read it for a chuckle and some insight. Also check out David’s classic post “Yes, Lawyers and Haiku.”

Following David’s example, I pause a moment to write a haiku:

Amidst a lawsuit
Principle and rightness fade;
Money becomes all

    Thanks for a great post (and pointer, and tee-shirt!), George.

    ethicalEsq wants to remind you that all of his archives are still available at f/k/a, and he and Prof. Yabut still butt in with prolix sermons and observations regularly.

    haikuEsq smiled at your haiquesque verse, and hopes you’ll check out our post is it or ain’t it haiku? and try your learned hand at more poetry.

    So, when are we going to have a Love Poet-Lawyers Day?
