Right-brain thinking a necessity for future jobs (a/k/a why I’m posting photos)

Posting photos by others is an experiment here. The following is an explanation . . . of sorts.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw an article based on this book: “A Whole New Mind: Moving from the Information Age to the Conceptual Age,” by Daniel H. Pink
The industrial age being supplanted by the information age is old news.
Today, as we know, information age jobs can go to low bidders overseas, because information flows around the world at virtually no cost.
The author examines how the information age, dominated by left-brain thinking, is being superseded by a right-brain age of high concept and touch.” . . .Pink urges readers to develop six aptitudes:
Design - creating something that is functional and beautiful, whimsical or emotionally engaging.
Story - fashioning a compelling narrative.
Symphony - seeing the big picture, crossing boundaries, combining disparate pieces into an arresting whole.
Empathy - understanding what makes people tick.
Play - having a capacity for laughter and lightheartedness.
Meaning - pursuing and sharing purpose, transcendence and spiritual fulfillment.
The story I originally read is ““Future jobholders need to do the right-brain thing,”by CECIL JOHNSON for The Fort Worth Star-Telegram (via St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
Here’s a more detailed version by Pink himself (via Wired Magazine): “Revenge of the Right Brain; Logical and precise, left-brain thinking gave us the Information Age. Now comes the Conceptual Age - ruled by artistry, empathy, and emotion.”
And here’s a brief explanation of the whole left brain-right brain thing.
While we can’t accomplish all the good right brain stuff right here in this Blawg, which is, after all, edited by a mostly-left-brained, logical lawyer, I am targeting a few modest goals relating to the above six right-brain aptitudes:
Design: Personally, my only successful artistic mode of expression has been photography. I’ve loved this medium since I discovered it affords true artistic expression to those who cannot draw or paint — like me.
I’ve just recently discovered an almost endless source of interesting photographs under Creative Commons license, at Flickr.
So I’m showcasing some of these many talented photographers here, with the attribution required by the license.
I’m hoping at least some of you, when you take a moment in your busy day to check my Blawg for left-brain info., also get a moment’s right brain stimulation from a beautiful photo.
My favorite photo subjects include: nature, macros, still lifes, architecture, semi-abstract, urban.
Symphony - I always try to see the big picture, cross boundaries, and combine disparate pieces. This right brain stuff just encourages me to do more.
Play - “Laughter and lightheartedness.” Michael: keep writing humorous headlines. I’ll work on that wry and playfully sarcastic humor, and becoming punnier.
