Sound Policy discussion on Corporate Blogging
The panel discussion moderated by Denise Howell on her Sound Policy show, in which I participated, along with Steve Rubel and Jeff Seul, is now available for your listening pleasure — for free.
Synopsis:
As blogging’s popularity spreads, a recurring area of tension is the relationship between businesses, employees, and the blogs each may be writing. In this installment of Sound Policy, Denise Howell talks with Steve Rubel, George Lenard, and Jeff Seul, all of whom have unique perspectives on the business implications of weblogging: what are the smartest strategies for businesses and individuals, and what legal issues are legitimate concerns?

The most interesting idea I hadn’t dreamed of was marketers encouraging companies to have their customers blog.
I was skeptical, but it could work for the right company.
One place it might really fly would be if the bloggers include not just consumers, but also franchisees, distributors, or retailers, who obviously have an interest in promoting the company’s business, but could also offer interesting perspectives on selling and using the products (for example, recipes, creative uses, maintenance tips, selling points, etc.)
