Alito Will Lean Right, Suggests Washington Post Photo

Does this photo reveal something meaningful about Alito through body language, are the Washington Post photo editors trying to subliminally influence perception of Alito as an “extreme right-leaning judge” or what?

See Washington Post (AP): “Senators Gear Up for Alito Questioning”

UPDATE: The link immediately above appears to be to ongoing hearing coverage from AP, with headlines changing as the story unfolds. A good place to keep up if you can’t watch TV or listen to radio during the day.

And on a much more serious note than my body language observation:

The Washington Post has compiled a very nice graphic analyzing Alito’s voting pattern as an appellate judge, by category of case, with case name and other details visible on rollover. Excellent public service; nice use of technology.

Interesting for us to note in the employment arena: evenly split on “union and wage disputes,” slightly more pro-employee on benefits cases, and 14-4 against discrimination claims.
