Trying something new for the Blogroll
November 20, 2006I’ve long had a very large and (hopefully) useful blogroll listing blogs on a wide variety of employment, labor, and HR topics.
Lately, it’s been sitting quietly on a separate page, visible only through a link at top right of this page. I did this because it had grown so large it would drag on forever if placed in the conventional sidebar spot.
As the blogosphere in this neighborhood has grown up around me (I started in May 2006, back in the Bronze Age of blogging), I’ve freely added to the blogroll, and divided it into categories.
Over the last few days, I’ve conducted an audit of the blogroll, finding that a few blogs needed to be eliminated because they were no longer being updated. I also created a few more categories and revised my categorization of some.
I am very pleased to announce that I am now rolling out a new generation of blogroll: one from which the reader is able to directly view headlines from the blogs, with the ability to then click directly to specific items of interest, as well as to the blogs’ home pages.
This capability is provided by grazr.
I am providing my blog list under a creative commons license, allowing it to be copied with the grazr tool for direct use on other blogs or websites, simply by clicking “Add to your page” at the bottom of the box and following simple instructions, provided there is attribution to this blog as the source.

Instructions:
- Click a folder to view the blogs in that category.
- Click a blog title to view the blog’s current headlines.
- Click a headline to view the post.
- Go backwards at any time using the small left arrow along the left edge of the box.
- Icons at the top allow you to change to a different view mode (there are three available) and to open a full-screen window for easier viewing.
