Three reference sites — for general HR, overtime rules, and technology policies

The only common thread here is that these are three sites you may want to explore and bookmark, as they look to be full of helpful content.

I’ve added them to my custom search engine.

(1) AllBusiness bills itself as “the one-stop resource for growing businesses.”

Its site includes a Human Resources page, with links to numerous articles on:

(2) Federal government sites offer great depth of information that is, obviously, quite authoratative and reliable. I could get lost for days in the Department of Labor site.

It’s the gateway for an alphabet soup of agencies, including the Employment Standards Administration, which in turn includes:

  • OFCCP, administering affirmative action and nondiscrimination for government contractors and subcontractors.
  • The Wage and Hour Division, administering the Fair Labor Standards Act (minimum wage, overtime, and child labor) and Family & Medical Leave Act, among others.

I found this page with links to useful info. on overtime.

One thing I like is the industry-specific fact sheets.

Another is the links to the Division’s detailed Field Operation Handbook, created for internal agency use. Nice transparency!

(3) The ePolicy Institute bills itself as “your online resource for ePolicy Content,Forms, Books, Workshops, and eTraining Tools.”

It says, wisely:

Regulating employee eMail, Internet, and software use isn’t a big brother tactic. It’s smart business. Employee use of company computer resources, including eMail, the Internet, and software, can open any organization to electronic risks.

The ePolicy Institutehas a number of useful free resources, including:
