Where’s George? Help is on the way!

Civil Courts Building, St. Louis

When you’ve been blogging as long as I have (since May 2003), failing to post for over a week becomes a guilt thing (I’m failing my regular readers!), but it can also feel like a deserved vacation.

I’ve been very busy with a couple of other things, and now this week have spent a lot of time in the building pictured, the Civil Courts Building in downtown St. Louis, home of the St. Louis City Circuit Court.

I’m the St. Louis member of a trial team from Chicago, and today was day two of a jury trial. I’m mainly just watching, my presence required by rule, since the others are not licensed in Missouri.

But because I’m not as close to and knowledgeable about the factual details, I’m able to contribute some big-picture and jury’s-eye-view observations to trial strategy sessions.

I’ll be doing this all week, and possibly into next week.

Soon I’ll be able to pick up the pace of activity here, thanks to a student intern from Hendrix College, Katie Rice. Katie, a freshman who happens to be my daughter’s roommate, will be helping me in many different ways once school is out for summer. Some of her work will be under-the-hood, and you may not notice it; but hopefully a significant part will be help with maintaining a better pace of posting.

Katie’s been writing for the Hendrix College Communications Office, and has a writing style well-suited to blogging. Check out this piece in which she mentions her “blogging gig.”

Hi George,

I know about that guilt thing. I’ve been blogging as long as you although our comment function was just enabled about a year ago - finally. And, for years, I blogged every single day. Then, I gave myself permission to blog around five times a week and went into withdrawal. But, I don’t think anyone noticed except me.
