Introducing New Intern, Andrew King

Greetings to all Blawg readers! I am Andrew King, and I am excited to be working with George on the Blawg over the next ten weeks. Like George’s previous student-interns, I attend Hendrix College in Conway Arkansas.*

I lived in Dallas for the first eighteen-plus years of my life. After graduation, I made the transition to Hendrix College where I have spent the last three years studying Economics and English.

I am currently the captain of the Hendrix basketball team, president of the Hendrix chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and member of Hendrix chapter of Future Investors.

If not working on schoolwork, I can most likely be found watching the most recently televised basketball game, whether collegiate or professional.

As a fourth year, Division III athlete at Hendrix, I am looking to “go pro” — outside the world of professional sports. After Hendrix, I plan to work on a graduate degree in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin — Hook ‘em!

I have agreed to weekly research and column writing for the Blawg as well as aesthetic and technical website improvement. I am specifically interested in labor economics issues.

A major project will be working with George on a series about how the Internet is changing the job search and recruiting process, which will include posts examining specific Internet tools and websites.

This internship allows for valuable writing, research and work experience. I look forward to future postings and conversations within the Employment Blawg!
