And Now: Costco Is Sued for Sex Discrimination
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Costco, for pay and promotion discrimination against women.
The focus in this case is on assistant manager and general manager positions. There are only about 650 possible women in the proposed class, however, so it is much smaller in scope than Dukes v. Wal-Mart.
The complaint is therefore much smaller in scope. The lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District of California.
While little data is included in the complaint, one number that stands out is that it is alleged there that only about 26% of managers are women, compared to an industry average of “more than 33%.”

So, Michael, how statistically significant is that discrepancy?
