Blawg Birthday

For what it’s worth, this Blawg was born May 12, 2003, so I just missed the second birthday.

Whoo whoo!

As with cats and dogs, blog lifetimes are measured differently than human years.

Two years is truly a long time in blog-years. By comparison, a blog that dies a natural death after a few months is pretty typical.

According to one study, “66.0% of surveyed blogs had not been updated in two months, representing 2.72 million blogs [of an estimated 4.12 million created] . . . either permanently or temporarily abandoned.” “1.09 million blogs were one-day wonders, with no postings on subsequent days. The average duration of the remaining 1.63 million abandoned blogs was 126 days (almost four months).”

We are planning to plow ahead indefinitely, and still believe the best is yet to come.

Here’s a peek back at our humble beginnings: (May 12, 2003 post).

Two years – very impressive! I believe we can easily use the dog-years theory 1 = 7, which would explain why I’ve aged about 3.5 years since starting a blog of my own!

    Congratulations on turning 14!

Happy belated blawg birthday, George & Michael – congratulations for two years of great posts and fabulous pointers. I’m a big fan. Plus, I appreciate the leadership you offer to the business blog community – you certainly have been a good neighbor to us – much appreciated.

Many thanks for your always-excellent efforts.
