Not employment law, but interesting

Today in Findlaw, columnist Joanna Grossman, whose excellent employment law columns have been cited in this blawg, writes a piece entitled “Whose Surname Should a Child Have? A New York Court’s Ruling Reinforces Sexist Traditions” about difficulties faced by mothers and courts dealing with efforts to give children their mothers’ last names.

I wonder what happens to the patronymic presumption when the (in vitro) child has two moms and no dad? That increasingly common occurrence alone may be reason for reform in this area.
